Three Points of View on Data Governance
4/23 @ 2pm ET | 11am PT
The realm of data land is an ever-changing place: new sources of data flood outward like an unattended hose, old data silos tower in ancient desktops, and the political battle for who gets to say ‘my number is the best!’ is as old as the concept of… well, numbers. But… does it have to be this way? Do we need to live in fear of the next data foe? How do we find peace in this land of data?! Well… sorting out governance can certainly help!
Join this panel of data governance experts from Ball State University, University of South Carolina, and University of Maryland Baltimore County to learn how three different institutions are approaching data governance at their institution.
“Bad Data” Shouldn’t Delay a Data Analytics Initiative - It’s a Reason to Start!
5/28 @ 2pm ET | 11am PT
To know where you want to go, you have to know where you are. That starts with understanding the root causes of a “bad data” problem. Join us to discuss how to diagnose and manage common data hygiene issues, like:
- Poor classification or lack of common definitions
- Inaccessibility
- Incorrect source system data
Making AI Work for Data Analytics
6/25 @ 2pm ET | 11am PT
There is a ton of hype around everything AI these days. In the data analytics realm there is a common perception among many stakeholders that AI is poised to eliminate the need for the hard work of building data pipelines and preparing data for reports and analyses. Instead, people assume we can just “give AI all the data” and it will somehow make sense of it for us. The goal of this session is to cut through the hype and explore the practical applications of generative AI tools for data analytics. We’ll focus on:
- Understanding AI’s capabilities with a clear-eyed assessment of its strengths and limitations
- The crucial role that data organization, validation, and governance play in enabling AI data tools
- Effectively communicating with stakeholders about the hard work and careful preparation required to successfully employ AI for data analytics
