Higher Education Data Analytics
Partnership for a Data-Rich Organization
St. Edward's University
St. Edward’s University (SEU), founded in 1877, is a private, Catholic university in Austin, Texas operated in the Holy Cross tradition. SEU serves over 4,600 undergraduate and graduate students.
St. Edward’s University wanted to up their data game. Becoming a data-driven organization capable of making informed decisions around student outcomes, campus resources, financial aid, and returns on education meant moving beyond a once-a-year snapshot of their student population.
How SEU Uses the Data
A Human-Centered Solution
SEU had surveyed faculty and staff to identify two primary barriers relating to accessing and using institutional data. They found that faculty and staff faced a challenge of “I don’t know who to ask” or where to access the data or “Nobody tells me anything” around receiving information. They needed the perfect partner to be able to make a comprehensive data warehouse that characterizes the people, process, and product.
The Fourth P: Partnership
SEU had a handful of vendors who said they could do it all. However, it was important that the solution needed to help more than just the people, process, and product alone. St. Edward’s needed a solution that could be used by anyone, not just data scientists, scalability, but also a partnership much deeper and more valuable than just a product and a model.
Actionable Data and More Resources
SEU can now go from once-a-year snapshots to knowing exactly where they are moving the needle with HelioCampus’ data analytics platform. SEU is now able to offer actionable, visualized data across all functional areas of the university that all staff and faculty can access.
Learn More About the Results
To make their vision a reality, they needed a way to make data from multiple sources usable and meaningful to a variety of users with different needs, and they needed their solution to be scalable. Read the case study to learn how SEU partnered with HelioCampus to achieve their goals.
